Rebecca Taylor

Research Associate

Health Innovation One
Lancaster University
Bailrigg, Lancaster

Following a undergraduate degree in Mathematical Sciences and a decade of teaching at secondary school and university level, Rebecca Taylor retrained in medical statistics in 2016 motivated by her father’s own diagnosis with MND, completing an MSc at Lancaster University and winning the RSS prize for Outstanding Performance.

She now holds two roles: as Research Statistician in the Clinical Research Centre at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and as Research Associate for the longitudinal analysis of quality of life in patients with MND, with the TONiC group.

Recent studies she has been involved in span a broad range of clinical fields, from cardiology to Covid-19 and surgery procedure choice to medical device output, focusing on immediate patient outcomes, longer term survival and quality of life. In all cases, her greatest satisfaction is gained from seeing the direct benefit to patients that comes from research.
